More than 200 delegates took part in this three day online event on how to unlock the power of data and AI across the health and public sector for the public good. Public sector leaders shared examples of what can be achieved and took part in lively discussions and Q&A sessions with delegate participation.

Liverpool City Council’s journey to improve the lives of children and families across the City is supported by its use of data.  This session will describe the journey Liverpool are on with Sentinel Partners to put data (and AI) to use to support vulnerable children and families across the City, and the outcomes so far.  The session will focus in particular on work done to support the government’s Safe Taskforce initiative. The GOV.UK One Login programme is providing a single way for citizens to prove their identity and reuse this proof across central government services. In this session, Louise will talk about how AI techniques and data sharing are allowing that to happen now, how they will enable what comes next, and what they mean for digital identity into the future. 00:18:23: Procuring AI that works for people and society - Anna Studman, Senior Researcher, Ada Lovelace Institute
There is excitement about the potential of AI to improve public services, including within local government. But the full impacts of these technologies are still emerging. Getting procurement right is one way to ensure AI works equitably and well, as it provides an opportunity for local authorities to scrutinise suppliers on the impacts of their technologies. But despite a proliferation of Government guidance on the procurement of AI, Ada Lovelace Institute research shows that councils do not have access to a clear, comprehensive or consistent account of how to procure AI in the public interest.
