The recent indication from the Crown Commercial Service that it plans to launch a procurement framework for automation underlines the importance of the technology to the public sector.

It is becoming a fixture, with most organisations either deploying the technology or seriously investigating its potential to take on high volume, mundane tasks with the promise of high productivity, increased accuracy and freeing up staff for more challenging work.

An array of initiatives have been launched, such as the Financial Ombudsman aiming to build an in-house capability, Norfolk County Council’s use of the technology as a strategic tool and efforts to scale up the use of automation by NHS England.

Against this backdrop, UKAuthority is providing an opportunity to obtain a series of insights on the issue through its Automation & Bots4Good conference.

Taking place online on 23 and 24 November 2022, it will bring together a number of public sector officials and industry representatives to share examples of what can be achieved and perspectives on the future of the technology in public services.

Speakers will include Saf Angelo, assistant director digital productivity at NHS England, David Cunliffe, intelligent automation lead at Cumbria County Council, and Dave More, service owner for the Digital Robotic Automation Centre of Excellence in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

There will also be scope for questions to the speakers and online observations from delegates, providing the opportunity for valuable insights into how to move forward with the technology.
