The British Council has agreed on a contract worth up to £78 million with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for business process outsourcing.
The agreement, which will initially run for five years and has options for two one-year extensions, includes operations in digital and IT, finance, procurement and HR, and comes in response to the council’s need to streamline operations and use more digital tools.
According to the contract award notice, one of the priorities for the British Council was to partner with a company with expertise in the areas to aspects of the services.
The British Council, which promotes the nation’s culture and education overseas, said the need for streamlining had been intensified by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and is part of its professional services transformation within its global transformation programme.
This is the third large contract win for Indian based TCS in the UK public sector this year, following agreements for finance, procurement and payment services for the BBC, and with the Department for Education to manage the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
