Mind the skills gap
Wednesday 08 May
Time: 11:00 - 12:00 via Town Hall
Delivering transformation and innovation
Digital, data and technology (DDaT) underpins both day-to-day operations and the future development of innovative, personalised health and public services. But do we have the skills in-house today to use these tools effectively? Capacity is an issue across the sector – DDaT and cyber skills are in short supply and many organisations rely heavily on consultants to support delivery.
How can we reduce this reliance on external resource? Can we build effective in-house skills where we need them? Can we attract and recruit locally to build sustainable in-house teams? Should we recruit for capability, train for skills and insist on knowledge sharing whenever we use external consultants?
Our expert panel will discuss whether we can change the way we build in-house teams to deliver transformation and innovation in public service delivery: (They will also discuss the findings from our quick skills survey - if you haven't already added your thoughts please do so now!)
