GeoPlace: Connecting people and places 2025

Thursday 22 May

Convene, 155 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 3YD

Registration is now open for this year's annual GeoPlace conference, which will be held on Thursday, 22 May at Convene, 155 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 3YD

Building useful services around people and communities needs reliable and up-to-date data. Knowing where change is taking place, where houses are being built, where communities are developing and where the infrastructure needs to be built in support needs dependable and accurate geographic data. Location data, and particularly address and street data with the associated UPRNs and USRNs, is the magic ingredient that connects services to people to places.

GeoPlace’s conference will showcase inspirational examples and case studies to show just how address and street data is already helping to address those challenges. Experts will share the evidence that shows how accurate location data delivers life changing outcomes.

The day will open with keynote sessions from HMRC, the Bank of England and policy experts, focusing on how location data underpins interoperability across government, economic resilience, and the future of street works. A vibrant mid-morning roundtable session enables attendees to engage in peer-to-peer discussions across 30 specialist topics, including local government reorganisation – lessons learned from authorities that have already been through the process of combining systems.

Later sessions delve into the data lifecycle and planning for sustainable communities, with speakers from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the National Fire Chiefs Council, MadeTech, and Addland. These presentations explore how accurate, timely geospatial data underpins everything from building safety to housing delivery, and how integrating planning and building control systems can enable real time, automated reporting back to government on housing targets. Together, they highlight the critical role of location data in creating safer, more responsive, and better connected communities.
