Scotland’s Improvement Service and the Young Scot organisation have developed a new mobile app for young people in the country.

It is available to anyone aged 12-25 and holding a Young Scot national entitlement card and provides access to benefits including discounts in some shops and eating places.

The app uses the mygovscot myaccount mechanism for authentication, and acts as a portal to the membership platform for Young Scot, which provides support for young people.

Features include an interactive discount map, through which people use a ‘near me’ function to find local businesses that offer discounts to card holders, along with a digital card to prove entitlement to the discounts. There is also a function to order a replacement card.

Innovative tools

Andrew Campbell, head of digital public services at the Improvement Service, said: “This app, which makes use of existing national assets such as mygovscot myaccount and the National Entitlement Card, provides young people across Scotland with innovative tools and resources to enhance their lives and access valuable benefits and services.

“We look forward to seeing the positive impact this app will have on young people across Scotland.”

The Improvement Service is the organisation for supporting local government in Scotland.
