West Berkshire Council has added a new function its digital planning service.

It has made it possible for residents to report a breach of planning regulations, adding to the ability to check if they need to submit a planning application in the beta version released in March.

Phil Rumens, West Berkshire’s digital services manager, said on LinkedIn that the service allows residents to report issues such as building an extension, making changes in a property without permission, or putting up advertisements without consent.

Other features include the ability to draw a red line around the boundaries of a building area and add pictures to help officers decide whether there has been a breach of regulations.

Rumens indicated that more planning services will be added later this year.

The service has been developed with funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Planning Software Improvement Fund.
