The Welsh Government has outlined plans for a new digital public services centre as part of its Digital Wales strategy.
Finance Minister Rebecca Evans (pictured) announced that it will involve three main strands aimed at developing new solutions for the country’s public sector.
One will be a digital skills academy based in Ebbw Vale, which will test a digital leadership programme and work with local training partners to identify the level of skills needed in Wales, then provide training to public sector staff.
It will be accompanied by a knowledge sharing hub for organisations to share their plans, digital strategies, research experiences and common standards.
There will also be an eight-week test phase for a selected public service, led by a small team of digital experts and focused on real user problems.
Over the next six to nine months the centre will work with staff from the public and private sector on practical solutions to some of the challenges in public services.
Exciting opportunities
Evans commented: “Digital transformation provides us with new and exciting opportunities to deliver public services in ways that people want and expect and to share communities in Wales for the bette – but we need to work together.
“I am pleased that alongside my Cabinet colleagues we now have the opportunity to test joined up, user designed processes and services across our public services.”
