The chief statistician of Wales has launched an interactive dashboard with data on energy performance certificates (EPCs) for properties in the country.
Published late last month, the dashboard provides breakdowns of the median energy efficiency score and ratings, the measures most commonly used to indicate energy efficiency.
The statistician’s office said it has been developed to overcome some of the challenges in using administrative data on EPCs for statistics and research. It said there are limitations to the existing EPC Register.
Future plans for the dashboard include providing alternative data on issues such as environmental impact and space heating demand alongside the energy efficiency scores and ratings to provide a more complete measures. These are to be explored for the next iteration.
The organisation added that it is working with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to understand how best to utilise data on recommended home improvement works, and has invited feedback on what could be included in future iterations.
A valid EPC is required whenever a home is sold or rented, and they are valid for 10 years.
