The Welsh Government has launched the first in a planned series of data dashboards on elements of the country’s justice system.
The Youth Justice Interactive Dashboard has been made available by the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales, providing data around 10-17 year-olds who offend, on topics including the nature of their offences, outcomes and relevant indicators on issues such as accommodation, education and mental health.
A blogpost by the Welsh Government’s digital and data team said the move derives from the Justice in Wales for the People of Wales report, which includes a recommendation for the collection and publishing of justice data on a scale for it to be disaggregated and support policy development and research.
This has led statisticians to bring datasets together into Power BI dashboards to produce the service.
There are plans to add further types of data and develop other dashboards on topics including courts, tribunals, prisons, crime and legal aid.
