Geoff Snelson, director of strategy at Milton Keynes Council, explains how using new data sources is making public transport and planning enforcement better and more efficient.
A new hub pulls data from across the city and with the use of sensors allows the council to map congestion, manage public transport in real time while cutting carbon emissions.
“Better information and using it in a timely way helps to improve services and allows you to make better decisions”, says Snelson.
He adds that the council uses satellite imagery to help planning enforcement and is to run a trial of driverless pods to provide seamless travel around the city.
