The University of Exeter has completed a reconfiguration of its financial IT systems, with a new set-up going live under an eight-year deal with enterprise software firm TechnologyOne.
The change, implemented under the university’s Future Finance programme, has involved integrating 60 existing systems with the company’s OneUniversity software-as-a-service solution.
It has taken two years since the deal was signed in 2016 and is predicted to help provide annual savings of £1.3 million for the university.
The new system provides access to real time information on the status of grants, budgets, expenses, forecasts and budgeting, and an end-to-end view of financial research grants, which the company said was not possible with the legacy solution.
It also makes the core finance and research finance systems available on any mobile device with a secure and consistent user interface.
Andrew Connolly, chief financial officer at the University of Exeter, said: “Working in the most efficient way, we can now deliver quality and timely information, insight and advice to colleagues to empower them in their roles, meeting the university’s transformational plan needs for the next decade.”
