The University of Cambridge has launched a new digital platform designed to support health and safety management across its departments.
Named the Safety Hub, it was launched in the autumn and developed in partnership with design agency Nexer Digital.
The company said it provides a centralised resource to improve risk recording, standardise safety practices, and clarify responsibilities, making the University a safer place to work, study, and visit.
It has been built on the University’s existing Microsoft technology, and provides tools including templates for risk plans and registers, reporting tools and dashboards, and compliance workflows.
Its safety library includes guidance and best practice on managing risks, risk registers for each department, roles, actions plans and procedural information.
Access is open to departmental heads, safety officers, and any staff members running events, programmes and managing risks within the organisation.
Tackling challenges
Lee Emery, product and operational team lead at Nexer Digital, said: “The Safety Hub demonstrates how technology and thoughtful design can come together to tackle complex challenges, making a meaningful difference for organisations and their people.
“By providing a single, user-friendly and accessible platform for safety resources, tools, and insights, we’re empowering staff and departments to work more effectively and build a stronger safety culture.”
