The UK Health and Security Agency (UKHSA) has agreed on a contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud hosting over the next three years.
The contract award notice sets the value at £31.5 million states it is directed an enabling a centralised security and collaboration capability, with services under three lots: cloud compute infrastructure, a ‘bring your own licence’ service and support, a managed service and training.
It comes under the second iteration of the One Government Value Agreement (OGVA) between AWS and the Crown Commercial Service, which was set up in 2020 to accelerate the adoption of cloud services in the public sector by offering substantial discounts. It was renewed last year.
OGVA 2.0 is comprised of three tiers, the first being Cloud Discoverer, aimed at organisations yet to adopt cloud services. Second is Cloud Scaler for those that have already adopted cloud and want to step it up, and third is Cloud Prime with features for more cloud-mature organisations.
Other organisations having used the agreement in recent months include the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
