Transport Scotland has taken a major step in its Digital Travel Data Services project, agreeing a £5.9 million contract for work on different elements with public transport software specialist Trapeze Group.
The project is due to formally commence this month and to run for four years, with an option for one more.
It is aimed at upgrading the travel data available to people in Scotland to plan their journeys on public transport, providing information not just on routes, fares and timetables but accessibility, active and alternative travel modes, and carbon footprints.
It involves the provision of a next generation data platfom – working with sources including transport operations, local authorities and regional transport partnerships – along with web, app and API services.
The contract with Trapeze Group involves three workstreams, one for data services with the provision of a travel data system, including systems integration and APIs, to create systems for data management, journey planning and disruption management.
Workstream two involves association digital services, such as the work on the website and the provision of travel information, and the third is for operational management.
