Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has said it is getting back to normal after an IT systems failure.
A crash lasting from Sunday to yesterday – the reasons for which have not yet been identified – affected all of its community sites and led to it cancelling operations and asking patients not to come in unless completely necessary.
It has now issued statement saying that, following the deployment of contingency plans, the majority of systems were restored from midday yesterday after IT teams worked through the night to resolve the issue.
It is now entering a period of recovery, for at least the next 24 hours, as staff focus on returning services to ‘business as usual’.
The trust anticipates most of its hospital and community services will be running as normal today. GP practices and minor injury units (MIU) are also operating as usual.
It is launching an investigation into how the incident happened.
