Thurrock Council has partnered with training company Multiverse in setting up a Data Academy.
It said the move is aimed at building its data capabilities and strengthening it financial strategy.
The authority has made plans for Multiverse to provide a 13-month training programme for 30 of its staff from departments including corporate services, place, adults, public health and HR. It will lead to a level-4 apprenticeship and upskill data-literate staff into analysts and data science professionals.
Thurrock said this should improve the accuracy of decision making at all levels and support its digital transformation.
Its executive director corporate services, Dan Fenwick, said: “By giving specialist learning opportunities for 30 of our colleagues, we’re taking a step forward to maximise the use and value of data improving our ability to make evidence based decisions benefiting Thurrock’s residents.”
