Are APIs key to underpinning public sector transformation? And if they are, how do we work together to standardise and drive forward their use? Tell us your thoughts in our UKAuthority editorial research on the power and potential of APIs in the public sector.
APIs are becoming an increasingly prominent element of the digital plans for public sector organisations.
Their role in facilitating the exchange and opening up of data provides great potential for the development of new services – both within and outside of organisations – and for a cost-effective approach to digital evolution. They can help to get the most out of legacy IT and provide flexibility for the future.
But there are barriers – technical, commercial, cultural – that threaten to hinder the progress. There is a great opportunity, but also a challenge, in harnessing their potential.
UKAuthority is exploring the issue, in a research project supported by Cognizant, and we are keen to include our readers’ perspectives on the future of APIs. We’re inviting you to provide your input by taking part in a brief survey focused on their use in the public sector.
It’s an important element in promoting the cause of technology for the public good, and provides you with the opportunity to help shape the debate on how APIs can evolve to provide better, more cost-effective services.
We look forward to receiving your responses.
