Sutton Council has begun to use a dedicated version of the WasteWorks integrated online waste management portal.
It has launched the solution – developed by the not-for-profit supplier SocietyWorks with Bromley Council and ecological management services provider Veolia – in a joint venture with Kingston upon Thames Council.
The portal enables residents of the borough to access domestic waste services, checking collection days, requesting new bin sand paying for green waste subscriptions.
The portal is integrated with the Veolia virtual voice assistant and Barclaycard to streamline the processes for the public, staff and contractors.
Kingston upon Thames begun to use a dedicated version of WasteWorks for handling green waste a few months ago. Both deployments have taken place as part of an improvement programme under the South London Waste Partnership.
Paul Brockwell, Sutton’s interim head of waste and street cleaning, said: “The system has enabled Sutton Council to provide a seamless and much improved online experience for Sutton residents. SocietyWorks has been extremely sensitive to our needs as an organisation and worked tirelessly to provide the authority with solutions in a very short timeframe that benefit the borough as a whole.”
