Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has chosen cloud-based electronic prescribing and medicines administration software (ePMA), allowing it to share information with minimal contact between staff
The trust, which provides mental health and learning disability care in Sussex and specialist services across south-east England, has agreed to a new five-year contract with Civica for its cloud-based Prescribing ePMA software. As well as allowing for data to be shared, this also includes safety mechanisms that guard against medication errors.
“As a growing mental health trust, it’s vital we have flexible digital solutions in place which can be integrated with our existing clinical systems and have the scope to meet changing future demands,” said Beth Lawton, the trust’s chief digital and information officer. “Civica Prescribing will offer our front-line staff a clear workflow to help them safely prescribe and administer medications, as well as reducing risk and increasing safety for all our patients.”
The software is also used by mental health trusts in Greater Manchester, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire and is being implemented by Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care and Partnership Trust.
