Support for vulnerable people features highly in the latest round of offers from suppliers to help public authorities in their response to coronavirus.
Sussex based media and tech development company MediaBite Group has produced a free web based platform to connect vulnerable people with local volunteers through the myneighbour.uk app. It makes it easy to register as a volunteer and for beneficiaries to locate those in their area. Volunteers can also be identified by relatives or friends of those in need.
While the app was developed for mobile phones, it will also adapt for use on desktop devices and tablets, the company said.
Technology recruitment consultancy People Source has launched a free IT staff volunteer service for the NHS during the pandemic. It has created the keyworkervolunteer website to quickly connect NHS bodies with IT experts, saying it had 1,500 volunteer sign-ups in a range of roles in its first week.
It said the service makes it simple for volunteers to sign on and for NHS bodies to search for people who meet their requirements. It is free for volunteers and all trusts.
Data matching
Data matching software firm Infoshare has offered customers full access to all of its product capabilities free of charge for three months to help identify the vulnerable. It is also providing unlimited free support in how to use the software for the purpose.
Motorola Solutions has highlighted its support for police forces by stepping up the development of new functions for its Pronto mobile applications to enable engagement with the public while maintaining social distancing. It has prioritised work on its remote telephone statements function, to allow police officers to take statements remotely from witnesses who have access to a telephone or email.
In addition, the company’s Covid-19 Ticket App replaces the need for paper tickets for driving and parking offences with automated workflows.
