Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council has won the first prize in the Digital Impact category in the Local Government Chronicle Awards.
It said the accolade has come from demonstrating a data driven culture to underpin its digital transformation, and the successful development of a number of data tools and projects.
These include the Family Context Tool to support social workers’ decision making, a data platform to share datasets with partners and the voluntary sector, an open source mapping tool for residents report faulty streetlights, blocked drains and floods, and its use of data in the Covid-19 response, to target Covid vaccines and focus on inequalities.
"This award is great news for Stockport Council and residents," said Cllr Mark Hunter, leader of the council.
"A key priority of our Borough Plan is to be a radically digital borough. We are proud of our innovative use of data to support our digital ambitions. Data is helping us meet local government's challenges and transform our services, resulting in better outcomes for residents."
The judges commented on Stockport's "impressive technical data platform infrastructure, enabling remarkable projects with very clear impacts, and helping drive real change".
Stockport Council announced its Radically Digital Stockport Strategy in March this year.
