Stockport Council has launched a local Family Hubs app, bringing together information to support families with children from a range of service providers.
These include the council, NHS and organisations in the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors.
The council – which supports a Family Hubs network – said the app provides support on all aspects of family life, from early help with infants to support with teenagers and school leavers, as well as broader issues such as cost of living, debt and parental mental health.
It has partnered with Greater Manchester and Essential Parent on the development of the app, which includes more than 2,000 expert written videos and articles that can be personalised according to the date of a child’s birth, and is available in 75 languages.
Best start in life
Cllr Wendy Meikle, Stockport’s cabinet member for education, children and families, said: “As a council, one of our key ambitions is to ensure that every child in Stockport has the best possible start in life. One Stockport Family Hubs bring together essential services that support children and young people, both in local neighbourhoods and online.
“Listening to families' requests for easier access to information on the go, we are excited to introduce the Family Hubs app. This app will make it even simpler for families to access the help they need, wherever they are and whenever they need it."
Nic Firth, chief nurse for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Our midwives, health visitors and school nurses work in partnership with Stockport Council to help give local families with children the support that they need. The new app is an excellent way of helping families to access that support even more easily, and we are delighted to support its launch.”
