Stephen Mold has been appointed as the new chair of the Police ICT Company board.
It will combine with his roles as police and crime commissioner for Northamptonshire, which he took on in May 2016 and extended to the local fire and rescue service in January of this year.
He replaces Katy Bourne, the police and crime commissioner for Sussex, who stood down from the Police ICT role to focus on her position of chair of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners. She has been in the post since 2016.
Mold said he will work with Police ICT’s board to further drives its work in exploring and developing new technological solutions for policing.
He emphasised the potential to look at the development of more integrated platforms to support police forces in working together.
Big role
“From maintaining and counselling on the national capability model, design standards and architecture, to supporting enhanced service delivery through innovative technology, the company has a big role to play in the policing landscape,” he said.
“One of my top priorities, as covered in my Northamptonshire Police and Crime Plan, is to improve and update technology systems and applications to increase efficiencies. My new position as chair of the Police ICT Company board will enable me to focus on this priority and to encourage technological enablement on a greater level, not just locally in Northamptonshire but across our UK police forces.
“I genuinely believe that there are opportunities to explore the development of more integrated platforms that will allow policing across the country to work better together while retaining local accountability.”
