St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (STHK) has extended its capabilities for telehealth and video consultations to take in up to 50 participants at a time.
It has gone live with the multi-party version of the Refero platform, having already used the earlier version in over 40 services.
The company said the new version will support the additions of family members, carers, interpreters and other clinicians to video consultations.
It will also provide for integration with the System C Careflow electronic patient record used by STHK, and uses the Health Service Bus component of the Orchestra eHealth Suite by cloud21 x-tention for onboarding clinics within the trust.
The latter feature could be used to integrate other organisations’ systems in the future.
Rowan Pritchard-Jones, medical director at STHK, said: “The new multi-party functionality means we can provide the best possible care for our patients in a video consultation setting. It allows family members to join the consultation if needed, the opportunity for language interpreters to support patients from mixed nationalities, and indeed training our junior doctors in these unusual times of delivering specialist care.
“We’ve already seen huge successes in the adoption of video consultation appointments in multiple departments over the past few months, so the new platform will take us to the next level and support our commitment to the continued uptake of our telehealth programme.”
The trust has used its previous Refereo platform in services including stroke review, medicine for older people, liver surveillance and gastroenterology.
