Southwark Council has entered a collaboration with Infosys to use the company’s Springboard digital learning platform to build digital skills in the borough.
It is part of the digital inclusion pillar of the council’s three-year digital strategy.
Infosys said the platform will help Southwark residents acquire new skills, with an emphasis on digital literacy, and be used to make devices and digital assets available to those who need them.
Three objectives have been identified: digital literacy for all; supporting digitally engaged communities; and boosting entrepreneurship and business services.
Significant step
Dionne Lowndes, chief digital and technology officer for Southwark, said: "Partnering with Infosys to bring the Springboard platform to Southwark is a significant step towards realising our ambitious three-year digital strategy.
“The initiative will not only empower our residents, but local businesses too, with vital digital skills and resources. By enhancing this kind of accessibility and fostering innovation, we are working to enable our community to thrive in an ever-advancing technological world."
Infosys said the Springboard platform has previously been deployed by Brent and Sandwell councils, leading to over 50,000 people registering to use it and taking part in over 10,000 courses.
