The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has launched a platform for social and business data for the region.
Named the Data and Intelligence Hub, it includes over 130 open source datasets covering eight themes outlined as key indicators of success in the strategic economic plan.
They cover: health and wellbeing; business and innovation; education, skills and employment; transport and mobility; clean energy, net zero and environment; land, housing, digital and infrastructure; inclusion; and culture and visitor economy.
SYMCA said the hub has been developed as a central point for intelligence and insights in South Yorkshire, complementing it with deeper analysis, mapping and further data insights.
The dashboards can be used by stakeholders, including the authority and anchor partners, civil servants, peer local enterprise partnerships and combined authorities, policy makers, academia, other public sector organisations, residents, businesses and investors.
Transparency factor
South Yorkshire’s mayor, Oliver Coppard (pictured), said: “In my manifesto, I said that transparency, accountability, equality, and accessibility will characterise everything I do as South Yorkshire’s mayor. An important part of staying true to that promise is giving people in our communities, our businesses, and academics access to live data on the social, economic, and environmental landscape of our region.
“I am proud to launch the South Yorkshire Data and Intelligence Hub, which I hope will show people why the work of the MCA is integral to improving the lives of people in South Yorkshire and levelling up our places.”
