South Norfolk Council has launched a bin collection app which is soon to be used by neighbouring Broadland Council.

Named ReCollect, it has been developed to help residents stay informed about bin collections and recycling with information specific to their homes.

It displays the bin collection days for the address, notifies people of updates or disruptions to collections, and provides information on what can and cannot be recycled.

Users can also set reminders to put out the bins, print a bin collection calendar and play a waste sorting game.

The two councils are aiming to achieve a 60% recycling rate across their districts.

South Norfolk’s cabinet member for clear and safer environment, Cllr Graham Minshull, said: “Having this platform where you can receive all bin guidance in one place will be a great way to keep residents in the loop and help us push forward with environmental targets.”

The app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
