South Lanarkshire Council has extended its contract with RM Education to supply technology to its schools by five years until September 2025.
The company said this will involve the implementation of a digital strategy that includes an increased use of cloud services and emphasis on remote learning during further pandemic lockdowns.
The council initially selected RM Education for a seven-year, £35 million deal in 2013, managing the technology estate across over 250 establishments, including schools, youth services, public libraries and care homes.
Since then there has been an upgrade of the network the replacement of older on-site servers, and a rationalisation of connectivity contracts.
Stewart Nicholson, head of education (senior phase) at South Lanarkshire, said: “Digital technologies play an increasingly important role in the systemic delivery of education, as well as being central to the development of digital literacy skills and the technologies curriculum.
“This contract ensures that our pupils and teachers will have access to a high quality, modern digital infrastructure for the next five years to support our efforts to inspire learners, to transform the learning environment and to strengthen our communities through effective partnership working.
“Our schools will continue to benefit, too, from the high quality support and service delivered by the team at RM.”
