Public sector IT association Socitm has formally launched its new Inspire institute.
The Society for Innovation, Transformation and Modernisation has previously flagged up its intention for the institute to provide communities of practice and practical assets such as toolkits, templates and benchmarking data from the public sector and partners.
It will be run by former Socitm president Sam Smith.
A blogpost to mark the launch by chief executive Nadira Hussain said it wants Inspire to help members improve organisational and place based outcomes, and help to create and support communities for them to share, learn and grow.
“I see the institute as our new home. With our individual services as its rooms and our communities – that enable networking, sharing and collaboration – as the roof,” she said.
What works
She added that the organisation is also planning to refocus some of its work areas. Activities on policy, research and innovation will be based on ‘what works’ with proven methodologies, tools, case studies and templates; and there will be an effort to enhance Socitm’s benchmarking capability and offer new areas, including data services, in the near future.
Socitm Advisory will continue as a separate company for consultancy services.
“These changes are the start of evolving Socitm, with the vision of creating a unique single place to offer real practical guidance, tools and to take our members beyond what works,” Hussain said.
