Public sector IT association Socitm has confirmed that it is now operating as a charity.
Its CEO, Nadira Hussain, announced on LinkedIn that the Society for Innovation, Transformation and Modernisation had completed the transition.
The plan was flagged up early last year as part of a restructuring of the organisation, partly to provide access to grant funding not available to a commercial organisation.
Hussein said the move will provide Socitm with new membership opportunities, enable it to raise awareness of its work and attract more investment.
“Since our establishment in 1986, the aspiration to become a charity and cement our purpose as a force for public good through transformation and innovation is at the heart of our mission,” she said.
