Northampton Partnership Homes (NPH) and its partners have completed an integration of smart technology into a new housing development for adults with learning disabilities.
The housing management organisation for West Northamptonshire Council has carried out the work, completed in April, with telecare provider Tunstall Healthcare and construction firm Jeakins Weir.
They integrated the technology at planning stage for Oak Tree Rise – a development of eight semi-detached bungalows – to support staff and carers in meeting the needs of the residents.
It involved the installation of Tunstall’s Communicall Vi communications system, which has been designed for group living environment and provides an integrated platform of alarm communications, door entry and access control. Its core system is linked to speech modules, which can be configured through a web browser or system control panel.
It also supports the use of telecare sensors and wearable technology such as fall detectors and will raise an alert if help is required.
Supporting independence
Helen Town, NPH assistant director, assets and development, said: “Installing this technology at Oak Tree Rise ensures that person centred support can be provided to help residents work towards a more independent future.”
Gavin Bashar, UK managing director at Tunstall Healthcare, said: “Working together with commissioners, providers and specifiers to ensure that the latest technology enabled care solutions are integrated into projects means we can create new models of care, which are more personalised and focused on enabling independence.”
