The Scottish Government has set up a major single supplier procurement framework for software valued added reseller services with Computacenter.

It will apply throughout the country’s public and third sector, run for two years with possible extensions for two more, and could be worth up to £200 million according to the contract award notice.

Products and service available through the framework, as outlined by a guidance document, include commercial off-the-shelf software, annual maintenance services, implementation and configurations services, asset recording, aggregation of bulk purchases, pre- and post-salves advice, maintenance of software licence records and consultancy.

It does not include bespoke software, hardware or ICT services.

The document says it should provide benefits through removing the need to run any mini-competitions, a centralised administration framework, a reduction in duplicate procurement and general ease of use.

The contract reinforces Computacenter’s position as a major supplier to Scotland’s public sector. Last year in won a similar supplier deal for the provision of an IT hardware catalogue and a place on a multi-supplier lot for infrastructure projects – both under a technology peripherals and infrastructure framework.
