The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) has awarded Austrian company Frequentis the contract to develop a new integrated communication control system (ICCS).
Under a five-year deal worth £3 million, the company is to implement and support the platform as part of the authority’s effort to standardise the technology and processes around policing in Scotland.
The contract notice emphasises the need for the system to support Police Scotland’s contacts, command and control division in using the relevant ICT systems and quickly deploying police officers.
The solution will be integrated with the Airwave radio communications network, the forthcoming Emergency Services Network, Police Scotland’s telephony platform and national unified communications, and its command and control applications.
The procurement comes six months after the SPA board approved an outline business case for its data, digital and ICT capability, which includes the provision of a new ICCS for greater flexibility in the control room and improving the response of frontline officers.
It also involves an implementation of integration platforms for reducing duplication of work and sharing data with partners, along with plans to improve public contract technology, transform corporate services and enhance cyber and forensic capabilities.
