Five companies have won places on a Scottish Government procurement framework for cloud and hosting services.
DataVita, BrightSolid, Iomart Hosting, Softcat and Storm ID have been named as suppliers on the framework, which could be worth up £20 million over four years.
It is available for the all organisations in Scotland’s public and third sectors, with the scope taking in public, private, community and hybrid cloud, co-locaton and cloud transition services.
According to the contract award notice, it will also cover platform- and -infrastructure-as-a-service, but software-as-a-service is out of scope as it is delivered by other arrangements.
The framework has fewer suppliers than the former arrangement from 2019, on which 14 companies had places. Of those on the new contract only Softcat was not involved in the former framework.
The Scottish Government declared a ‘cloud first’ policy for the country’s public sector in 2020, and in august of this year revealed that it was working with AWS to develop a public sector cloud platform.
