The Scottish Government is investigating the possibility of setting up a shared service enterprise resource planning system for the country’s public sector.
It has published a prior information notice to test market sentiment on the idea, with an emphasis on the capabilities for HR/payroll and finance management.
It currently uses separate Oracle eBusiness Suite solutions for the two functions, running them across its core directorates, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies.
As part of its transformation it wants to bring the functions together into a single, integrated, cloud based system, and said it is open to other solutions that could be delivered within a shared service.
“This will initially provide services for approximately 13,000 employees but will require the ability to rapidly onboard Scottish public sector bodies,” the notice says.
The Scottish Government is planning to run a bidder session to provide details of its shared service transformation programme and assess the possibilities on 9 March.
