Two Scottish companies have been awarded shares of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to work on digital products and services to support healthcare.

Storm ID has received £586,000 to develop digital services for patients with lung conditions, while Daysix gets £290,000 to develop a clinical decision support app with the aim of transforming the delivery of trauma care.

The funding, which is managed by UK Research and Innovation, is aimed at supporting breakthrough technologies to transform healthcare.

Business Secretary Greg Clark said: “By pooling the expertise of the public and private sectors, as highlighted through the Life Sciences Sector Deal and the modern Industrial Strategy, we are making every opportunity to reach our full potential in finding new discoveries and technologies to diagnose illnesses earlier that could lead to more lives being saved.”

Storm ID has been active in the field having previously developed the Lenus Digital Health Platform to support an ecosystem of digital health services through standard APIs, identity, access and consent management services.

DaySix is a creative agency involved in app development that has previously worked with the charity Medic One in supporting roadside medical care.

A third company, RoslinCT, has been awarded £887,000 to develop stem cell therapies for clinical use.
