Improvement Service and SEEMiS are developing a prototype system to fit demands of ‘Getting it Right’ programme
Scotland’s Improvement Service (IS) has revealed that is working on a secure messaging system for sensitive communications between officials involved in the country’s Getting it Right for Every Child (Girfec) progamme.
Named the Message Exchange Hub (MEH), it is intended to act as a bridge between local authorities’ IT systems, SEEMiS education management software and systems used by national organisations such as the NHS.
IS, the central support body for local authorities in Scotland, said SEEMiS is taking responsibility for much of the work, reflecting its prominent role provider of education management systems to all 32 Scottish local authorities.
It has been working with the myaccount team at IS, which developed the portal for access to the country’s public services.
The prototype should be able to take messages from a source organisation and using routing and indexing data to delivery it securely to an organisation that is also a partner in the programme.
Girfec is Scotland’s programme for supporting children and young people that requires relevant organisations to adapt and streamline their systems and practices to work together. It emphasises early interventions to save children from crisis situations.
Other organisations involved in the development of the MEH include the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, health boards, National Records Scotland and the Information Sharing Board.
