Scotland’s Digital Office for Local Government is planning a training programme on the ethical and safe use of AI in public services.
It is working with the Alan Turing Institute on the scheme as part of the latter’s partnership with the Office for Artificial Intelligence, and will use content based on the UK Government’s guidance on the responsible design, development and deployment of AI.
The programme, titled AI Ethics and Government in Practice, will involve eight workshops to equip organisations with the tools, training and support for a responsible approach to AI innovation.
The Digital Office said it is looking for local authorities to help pilot at least one of the workbooks, providing input and feedback to shape the content. This stream is scheduled to run from September to November, with the Turing Institute integrating the feedback into the workbooks around the turn of the year.
It is also scheduled to launch an interactive platform with training materials during October.
