The Scottish Government has launched a new planning fees calculator to coincide with changes to fee charges for planning applications in Scotland.

It has developed the calculator, which replaces the previous version and is available for use via the eDevelopment Scotland website, in partnership with local and planning authorities.

The move is part of the wider Digital Development Consent programme, an area of work that aims to use digital technologies to streamline and simplify the process of applying for consents to carry out development in Scotland.

In addition to the fee calculator, the programme is delivering a new payment system with a single card payment mechanism for users applying for planning or building standards applications via eDevelopment Scotland.

The Scottish Government said the project team is building the solutions in a way to make them scalable and adaptable to future needs, and that they will deliver cost and resource efficiencies for local and planning authorities.

They are currently working with private beta partners for implementation in spring 2025 ahead of wider roll out.
