Last week’s announcement that the UK Government’s AI Safety Institute has become the AI Security Institute reflected a highly important trend in the development of the technology.
Safeguarding sensitive information has always come with big challenges for the public sector, and these are becoming more complex and intense with the predomination of AI. There are rising concerns about the use of AI by cyber attackers and, while the technology can quickly scan and curate massive volumes information, much of it is sensitive – for organisations and individuals – and there are concerns about how it is handled.
Detect, manage, protect
Organisations have to face up to this by adopting proactive strategies to detect, manage and protect high risk and sensitive information effectively, and around the clock. This is providing a whole new set of challenges, the intricacies of which are still not entirely clear.
UKA live will explore these issues and opportunities at 11.00 am on Wednesday 26 February. Joining the panel are Dr Steven Marshall, chief social research officer and head of information management for the Welsh Government, Cassandra Bisset, vice president market strategy for content solutions at Objective, and UKAuthority research director Helen Olsen Bedford.
It will look at how shifting to a modern information federation framework can enable organisations to confidently safeguard their most critical information from potential vulnerabilities and breaches.
Viewers logged in for live discussion will be able to submit questions and make observations to shape the discussion and contribute to the longer term debate around the issue.
It is a great opportunity to learn more about developments that increasingly important to the public sector’s use of information.
