The London Boroughs of Richmond and Wandsworth have integrated their social care case management into a single system.

They have brought together their Mosaic software from Servelec – which was already used by both of them – to support the shared staffing arrangement they entered in 2016.

The company said the integration was completed at the end of last year and makes them the first councils in England to implement a single social care system across two authorities, which will enable them to join up working practices for adult and children’s services. Social care teams and back office staff will no longer have to log out of one system and into another, which will remove any confusion about which one they are using.

The system incorporates social care, finance and early help data.

Kat Van Praagh, programme manager for the two boroughs, said: “When you’re trying to manage two separate systems that do exactly the same thing just in a different way, your efforts double. We were developing reports, forms and processes twice, so from a process perspective, we’ve been able to streamline significantly.

“There’s also now a reduced risk of duplication of error, because we have more consistency across both councils.”

She added: “The integration has given us a really good platform to build on our interoperability goals, and we’re now looking at the whole range of Servelec services across local government that can help us to deliver efficiencies and help with further integration aspirations.”
