The Renal Association is to re-platform its PatientView system onto the Patients Know Best (PKB) personal health records platform.
It has reached a five-year agreement with the social enterprise for the use of its portal, connected to the data sources of 62 NHS hospitals and their satellite clinics that provide renal care.
PatientView currently supports about 74,500 patients who are able to view their clinical data through a portal which is to be replaced by PKB with one that has advanced features such as care planning, team based messaging and an ecosystem of integrated devices.
The provider said this is aimed at giving patients digital tools to help manage their conditions, and has the potential to enable the association to gather from a wider range of sources for the UK Renal Registry Database including GPs and devices through the system’s APIs.
It added that, along with the Renal Association, it will work with renal units across the country to support the transition over the next few months.

PKB operates within the Health and Social Care Network according to Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources and HL7v2 standards. Earlier this year it become the first personal health record to integrate with the NHS App.
