Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley forces agree on framework contract with KPMG and subsidiary to use Dynamics platform
Three south of England police forces have signed up for a joint ERP system in a deal that could be picked up by other services.
Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley Police have signed a contract with consultancy KPMG and its IT solutions subsidiary KPMG Crimsonwing to take on a Microsoft Dynamics platform.
It will be used to support 18,000 employees across the three forces with information on finance, fleet, procurement, HR, learning and development, payroll, duty management and rostering activity. The latter will be delivered by third party, Crown Duty Management System.
KPMG said it will also support mobile working by running through a cloud service, and the ‘go live’ date is expected to be by the end of 2017.
Wider take-up
A spokesperson said the contract has been set up for two years for the build of the system, with options to extend for two one-year periods if required. Its initial value is £16 million, but it has been drawn up as a framework that other organisations could pick up, and 34 had signed up to keep the option open.
Jane Harwood, senior responsible officer for Surrey Police, representing the three forces, commented: "Through using this technology, Surrey, Sussex and Thames Valley Police will reduce the administrative burden on officers and staff, enabling the forces to deliver even better policing for their communities.
“We will undoubtedly continue to see more shared service platforms being delivered within UK policing as forces strive to work together to drive greater efficiency, and indeed in the wider public sector as devolution continues.”
