Police Scotland has begun to scout the technology options for support of its Transforming Corporate Support Service (TCSS) programme.
It has published a prior information notice to set up exploratory discussions with potential suppliers, saying it wants to include parties from different sectors and differing sizes to inform its thinking on how best to modernise the services including finance, people and development, fleet and estates management, procurement and ICT.
The notice says the functions currently operate from over 100 locations and rely on ageing legacy technology and fragmented processes that often require manual workarounds and impose a significant administrative burden – for corporate services and frontline teams.
Police Scotland wants to transform the services by setting out how each function will be organised in the future, creating a standard service catalogue for each one and designing an organisation through which the future function will be managed.
It also wants to provide systems that will underpin the delivery of the relevant services and can be integrated across corporate services in the long term.
The force has already looked at the technical design principles for the TCSS and now wants to determine the appropriate approach to procurement and technology strategy.
