The Police ICT Company (PICTCO) has chosen three companies for places on its new Iris procurement framework.
Internet Investigation Solutions, Sopra Steria and Verint Systems have emerged from five tenders to take places on the framework for solutions supporting evidence capture and internet connectivity and audit.
The contract notice indicates that it could be worth a maximum of £50 million over its four years, and its reference to the creation of a dynamic purchasing suggests there is scope for other suppliers to be added.
Project Iris has steered clear of identifying a single national solution but has established nationally agreed requirements for the relevant digital tools, with an indication that suppliers are expected to come up with improvements in their offerings.
Police forces will be able to choose their own solutions from the companies, taking advantage of the assurance on standards and lower costs within the framework.
It has been supported by the Police Transformation Fund and coordinated by the National Police Chiefs Council.
Early in the year PICTCO presented a new service offer including the negotiation and management of contracts as one of its three central pillars, along with setting the direction for digital technology in policing and providing support for major programmes.
