Wales’ Centre for Digital Public Services has highlighted non-technical capabilities in its search for a new CEO.
Its interim chief Sally Meecham has followed up the publication of the advertisement for the job by emphasising the need for someone with people and transformational experience rather than technology.
Meecham said: “This role is about culture change and transformation, how you inspire and motivate people to change.
“Technology and data are enablers for change, but at the heart of transformation is taking people with you. This isn’t an IT role or a CTO role. We’re looking for people with a wide range of skills and experiences in transformation.”
The advertisement stresses the need to be able to lead team, support the delivery of the Digital Strategy for Wales and drive collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.
The CDPs was set up last year as an arm’s length body of the Welsh Government to lead in building the digital capability of the country’s public sector.
Meecham has outlined the main elements of its culture in a blogpost, saying it is heavily focused on standards, wants to foster the creation of digital organisations rather than front ends, believes in diverse and inclusive teams, emphasises the importance of evidence and data in making decisions, and believes in collaboration, working in the open, pragmatism and avoiding duplication.
