The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) has launched a centre of excellence for the development of digital and data skills.
It said the centre is a hub for support and resources and is for staff working in all roles across Parliament, along with members of the Houses of Commons and Lords and their staff.
This will include people who do not see themselves as not being as a digital role but use technology in their jobs.
Some of the resources will be focused on digital and data skills for leaders.
The hub will be led by a group of multi-skilled professionals from PDS, with input from subject matter experts, and will work with other professions in Parliament to develop the learning resources.
It will also promote the sharing and embedding of best practice and knowledge, and encourage continual learning.
Looking at landscape
Julie Byrne, head of digital capability at PDS, said: “We are looking at the whole digital learning landscape across our organisation, and using this to develop learning, initiatives and resources that meet user needs.
“It is important to us that we make the learning journey as easy to navigate as possible, and for users to find the learning that is useful and relevant to them.”
She added that the team will initially focus on joining up existing learning and resources on Parliament’s intranet then take an iterative approach to further developments. This will involve identifying skills gaps and ways to fill them.
The move comes months after PDS published a new digital strategy for Parliament, setting out 11 objectives that include building the digital and data capability of the institution.
