Our Future Health has extended its strategic digital delivery partnership with technology company Kainos by a further year.

They have been working together since 2020, when the research charity engaged the company to support its work on disease prevention, which has now involved more than one million volunteers. Kainos developed its participant portal, applications for clinical staff and support services using Microsoft Azure Cloud and Dynamics CRM.

In 2023, the work was extended with the integration of a scalable solution for blood donors to participate as part of their regular appointments with NHS Blood and Transplant.

Volunteers complete a questionnaire and provide a blood sample and some physical measurements, then consent to Our Future Health securely linking their health records. They are also offered information on their health including blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Continued support

Under the new extension, Kainos will continue to support the portal for registering and onboarding volunteers and provide clinicians with access to digital applications.

Marko Balabanovic, chief technology officer at Our Future Health, commented: Kainos is a great digital partner for us. With a successful track record in secure, data centric health projects, including the NHS App in England and Wales, the team’s digital expertise has truly been invaluable.

“The commitment and understanding of our unique requirements that they’ve shown have been pivotal to the success of this groundbreaking project, and we’re delighted to extend our partnership.”
