NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) has awarded a contract to Advanced Health and Care to develop a new version of the document management and workflow software for the country’s GPs.

NSS – also known as the Common Services Agency – has agreed on a £15 million deal with the company to upgrade Docman 7 to Docman 10 and migrate all the relevant data over an estimated period of 27 months.

According to the contract award notice, the current solution, also provided by Advanced, is no longer fit for purpose and will not be supported from January 2026.

The new Docman 10 provides a centralised cloud hosted solution that integrates effectively with current GP clinical IT systems. It also supports the existing GP2GP clinical record transfer process, the Integrated Electronic Data Transfer Hub and the SCI Gateway for the exchange of information between primary and secondary care systems.

The new Docman services will support around 900 GP practices in Scotland.
